Chiropractic Blog Delivers Legendary Chiropractors Messages

Chiropractic audio podcasts have returned to Planet Chiropractic. Our chiropractic website began doing audio presentations, featuring chiropractors from around the globe, in the late 1990s. Before people were popularly listening to mp3 file formats and podcasts, planet chiropractic delivered audio and video in formats such as Real Media (.rm), Windows Advanced Streaming Format (.asf), and QuickTime movie formats (.mov), with file downloads that could take up to an hour to receive, when using a dial-up modem service.

As audio and video codecs (used to encode and decode digital formats) continue to change and advance, so will our delivery of chiropractic multimedia. While still accessed by users every day, the static media pages at planet chiropractic have become stale, with many of the downloadable files, available only in the older digital formats. This has recently been posing a problem for some visitors using newer computer operating systems, as they sometimes don’t have the default software installed to recognize the old file formats.

This past week some upgrades were made to the planet chiropractic blog pages that allow for fairly basic integration of audio and video content into blog posts. This past weekend, we found it fitting that our first audio presentation posted on the blog pages, feature Dr. Ian Grassam, a great chiropractic warrior and teacher. Dr. Grassam fought political battles for chiropractic, and won most in the states of Michigan and Florida. Dr. Grassam was often the “chosen one” when there was a challenge to debate chiropractic principles and/or practices with medical doctors or political opponents. You can listen to a presentation Dr. Ian Grassam gave at a West Coast chiropractic conference back in 1997, the following link will take you to the audio blog page… Ian Grassam Chiropractic Audio 1997

On Monday, the post featuring Dr. Ian Grassam was followed by another featuring an audio presentation with legendary chiropractor, Dr. Bob Sottile. Dr. Sottile was a chiropractor practicing in the state of New Jersey, from the 1970s to the 1990s. He was incredibly active in the chiropractic community, and was particularly influential in the development and increased awareness of chiropractic care in the states of New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania. Additionally, he was a warrior for chiropractic in the area of philosophy and politics. There are more than 100 hours of chiropractic audio and video, from the 1970s through to the present, on various videotapes, cassettes, and CD-ROMs, collecting dust in the closets of the planet chiropractic office. It will take a considerable amount of time and effort in getting the original recordings converted into the latest digital formats. Fortunately, several hours of audio have already made it to the computers so they should be making it online soon. Watch for more regular posts of audio content in mp3 format as well as some shorter video presentations, planned to be available in both a standard video format (ala YouTube quality) and higher-quality video formats (probably QuickTime and H.264 MPEG-4 video) on a chiropractic web site near you.
