Everyone is talking about Swine Flu. There’s no doubt the topic will come up in a chiropractic setting, and chiropractors are likely going to offer advice more on the side of wellness and prevention versus use of antiviral agents, vaccines, and taking of medications. One California Chiropractic office had a Swine Flu Handout prepared for Monday morning distribution. We’ve included a copy of the text here, for those wanting to educated with similar handouts.

The following comes from Lancaster & Palmdale Chiropractic office of Dr. Suzanne Frye.

What is the Swine Flu?

The Swine Flu is the newest form of influenza that everyone is worried about. Influenza is a viral infection that can be easily transmitted from person to person.

How would I get this flu? People usually get this flu because they were near someone who was infected that had coughed or sneezed near them or by touching a surface such as a door handle or grocery cart that is carrying the virus. Then they touch their face, eyes or mouth.

What are the symptoms? About one to four days usually elapse between the time a person is infected and the onset of symptoms. Influenza normally causes symptoms such as coughing, sneezing, headaches and body aches, fever, chills, and sometimes vomiting and diarrhea. Adults with severe illness may also have difficulty breathing, dizziness, confusion, or severe vomiting and diarrhea.

On Table for Adjustment How can I protect myself from swine flu? Build your immune system! Get adjusted! Studies show that being adjusted twice a week can increase your immune system function by up to 400%. Limit the amount of sugar in your diet! Sugar depresses the immune system. Foods to avoid would be the added sugar to your coffee, soda, sweetened drinks, candy, alcohol and white flour products. Drink more water! Wash your hands frequently.

Use natural disinfectants like essential oils that fight viruses (eucalyptus lemon, lavender, tea tree oil are the most popular). To disinfect a room from the flu virus, you should buy a new plant sprayer, use warm but not boiling water inside the bottle, add 4+ drops of a oil listed above (your choice) per one cup of water, shake before each use and spray on hard surfaces throughout your house and use a clean rag to wipe down the surface. You can also disinfectant a room by spraying the mixture into the air.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask!
