Who won Dancing with the Stars 2009? ABC television's 2009 Dancing with the Stars celebrated a new winner Tuesday night. In its eighth season, which premiered on March 9, 2009, with 13 couples vying for the number one spot, ABC television and DWTS had its narrowest competition ever. In a finale that was declared as the tightest ever in the show's history, 2009 Dancing with the Stars winner is Olympic gold medalist Shawn Johnson.

Olympic gold medalist Shawn Johnson won the 2009 Dancing with the Stars competition, narrowly beating out actor Gilles Marini by less than a reported 1%. The finale was declared as the tightest ever in the show's history. Shawn Johnson's professional partner in the 2009 dance competition was Mark Ballas. Actor Gilles Marini with a dance partner Cheryl Burke, took second place in the competition. Melissa Rycroft, who appeared on the Bachelor, took third place with dance partner Tony Dovolani.

Anyone who's watched the Dancing with the Stars series knows how incredibly taxing the consistent practice of dance routines can be. Many contestants have left the show with injuries, and on several occasions, injuries related to dancing have been highlighted on the show or in the media. It was in season three, September of 2006, when coordinators behind the Dancing with the Stars reality show series were in desperate need of a chiropractor. They found one using Planet Chiropractic (Chiropractors are Dancing with the Stars), and DWTS contestants have had access to onset chiropractic care, at the filming location in Los Angeles, numerous times since then.

It was that same fall, when Emmitt Smith, former NFL running back, won the Dancing with the Stars competition. Emmett Smith has long been an advocate for chiropractic care, advising LaDainian Tomlinson of the San Diego Chargers to find a good chiropractor, and even being shown on TV during training for Dancing with the Stars, receiving an adjustment from his chiropractor.

But this week's celebrity is Olympic champion Shawn Johnson. Thousands of people are probably going to begin searching for Shawn Johnson photos (in a bikini, tights, and dancing garb) so to make it easy here are some photo search links on Flickr. Use some of the search terms here to find Shawn Johnson photos online: Shawn Johnson (Flickr), Shawn Johnson DWTS (Flickr), Shawn Johnson DWTS (Google image search).

Congratulations to Shawn Johnson and Mark Ballas! And congratulations to ABC television for another successful season of Dancing with the Stars. I hear the show will be back for a ninth season, also on ABC. Visit the official Dancing with the Stars home page online... ABC: dancingwiththestars.
