By Michael Dorausch, DC

June is time for the annual chiropractic convention hosted by the California Chiropractic Association (CCA) in Reno Nevada. This year's convention takes place at the Grand Sierra Resort & Casino and it begins on June 11. This year's continuing education chiropractic convention offers chiropractors up to 22 hours of educational credits. The conference ends on June 13. Not only is it the CCA's biggest chiropractic event of the year, continuing education for CCA members is free when preregistered for the conference.

CCA California Chiropractic Convention

I went for the Full Registration Package and am looking forward to three enjoyable days in Reno Nevada, along with the opportunity to receive all my necessary continuing education hours, which is included free with my annual CCA membership. I've mentioned many times before that chiropractors should be supporting their alumni association, as well as state and national chiropractic associations. If you are a chiropractor practicing in the state of California, and you're not already a dues paying member of the CCA, it's Time to Join California CCA.

This is not the first time CCA has offered free continuing chiropractic education to member chiropractors, and they are not the only state association to do so. Regardless of the state you're practicing chiropractic in, it's worth your effort to find out if continuing education credits are provided by your state association, may as well keep the funds in the family and support those that support you.

They'll be coming by car, they'll be coming by airplane, and they'll be coming by chartered bus. Chiropractors in the Orange County area have chartered a bus for this years 2010 Reno Convention and it sounds like they're going to have a blast along the way. In my experience, one of the best things about traveling amongst groups of like-minded individuals, is the amount of brainstorming that takes place. Sometimes just being around other individuals and hashing ideas out, provides the insight and information needed to grow once practice, or take one's life to the next level.

The convention class schedule includes up to 22 hours of continuing education given over a three-day period. There is a total of 53 hours of CE classes approved by the California Board of Chiropractic Examiners for California CE credit and by the Idaho Board of Chiropractic Physicians for Idaho CE credit. Select continuing education classes have also been approved for Nevada and Hawaii and all classes have been submitted for approval for Arizona, and Georgia. If you're practicing outside of the state of California and you're attending this conference, be sure to speak to CCA representatives to get full details on continuing education credit for your state.

There is also a chiropractic assistant program beginning on Friday which includes topics such as Medicare, health lectures, owning the Internet, bulletproofing your advertising, and steps for gaining new patients.

I look forward to seeing many chiropractors from California and other states at this year's annual convention in Reno.
