Parker University Honors Faculty of the Year

At a recent school-wide assembly, Parker University presented two faculty members with its most prestigious awards--the Academic Faculty of the Year Award and Clinic Faculty of the Year Award. Dr. Nicole Lederman was presented with the Academic Faculty of the Year Award and Dr. Paula Shaff was given the Clinic Faculty of the Year Award.

Dallas, Texas – At a recent school-wide assembly, Parker University presented two faculty members with its most prestigious awards–the Academic Faculty of the Year Award and Clinic Faculty of the Year Award. Dr. Nicole Lederman was presented with the Academic Faculty of the Year Award and Dr. Paula Shaff was given the Clinic Faculty of the Year Award.

The recipients of the award were nominated by the faculty and elected by a committee vote. Criteria in selecting the recipients include active service to the university, community service, and scholarly endeavors.

“We have a tremendous group of faculty that truly care about our students and go above and beyond to serve them,” said Dr. Gery Hochanadel, provost of Parker University.

Dr. Nicole Lederman, associate professor of Parker University, started her career at the university in 2002. She worked full time in the clinics as a clinic faculty doctor and taught part time in academics. In 2011, she transferred to academics full time, teaching Pediatrics and Diversified II. She also maintains a private practice in Coppell, Texas, which is dedicated to the education and care of women and their children.

In 1995, she received an Honours Bachelor in Kinesiology from McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario. She earned her doctor of chiropractic degree from Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in 2000, and practiced in Canada until moving to Texas.

Chiropractor Paula ShaffDr. Shaff, associate professor of Parker University, was licensed and practiced in Colorado before she started her 15-year tenure with the university in 1997. Since she joined Parker, she has been a clinic faculty doctor and a part of the compliance department, and she has worked in the external programs department.

She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Natural Science from Muhlenberg College in Allentown, Pennsylvania, in 1986 and subsequently attended and graduated from Life University in Marietta, Georgia, in 1990. Most recently, in 2011, she received a Master’s degree in Human Nutrition from the University of Bridgeport.

“It is an honor to be selected amongst such a group of hard working and dedicated professionals who strive to educate and mentor students by bringing their best to Parker University each and every day,” Dr. Shaff said.

In addition to the two faculty of the year awards, Dr. Thomas Redenbaugh, professor of Parker University, was recognized for his service as past president for the Faculty Senate Executive Council, and chair of the Council on Curriculum and Grades.
