I was watching the Pro Bowl today and a comment by one of the announcers reminded me to search Planet Chiropractic for a football related article I wrote a few years ago. In the process of searching news archives I came across numerous Super Bowl related articles I’ve posted during the past six years or so. I’ve organized the list of almost everything I found into a single post. The information may or may not be helpful to you, but at least I’ll have a reference for Super Bowl XLVIII.
The Baltimore Ravens and San Francisco 49ers are scheduled to play in Super Bowl XLVII (SuperBowl 47) on Sunday, February 3, 2013 at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, LA. I will not be at this year’s game at the Superdome but I’ve been to Super Bowls in the past (awesome experience). I’m sharing a photo (it’s not a great one) of stations set up outside the stadium (but still inside the gates so you must have Super Bowl tickets) where fans can take photographs in team uniforms.
Baltimore Ravens Experience at Super Bowl XLIV
If you have tickets for Super Bowl XLVIII and you see these stations be sure to stop and get your photo taken (as long as you have enough time before the game.) I didn’t get a chance to get a close-up of the Baltimore Ravens uniform or San Francisco 49ers uniform, but I had a photo taken with a Minnesota Vikings #10 uniform. There was a station for every team in the NFL, one more added bonus of attending the Super Bowl live.

I found NFL related posts going all the way back to 2001 but wasn’t going to list them all, mostly because I’m watching the Pro Bowl while writing this post. Posts are listed in order from the most recent (2012) to the oldest I’ve included (2001).
The first post, 2012 Super Bowl Commercials Raise Eyebrows, features models Catrinel Menghia and Adriana Lima, who both appeared in Super Bowl advertisements. Sucks that the commercials on the YouTube videos are now private (I’ll find the originals and will update post).
The second post, 2012 Super Bowl 46 – Superbowl XLVI Schedule and Guide, includes information about start times, live streaming, location, spreads, and the halftime show (which I wasn’t impressed by).
Back in January I blogged about Visiting NFL Stadiums and mentioned stadiums I’ve been to most often. I love when football stadiums have easy access (i.e. transportation) to major airports.
There was a bit of chiropractic history in the Ronald Reagan Centennial Super Bowl XLV Tribute WOC which appeared on national television before kickoff. The radio station that employed Ronald Reagan was owned by chiropractor BJ Palmer in Davenport, Iowa. Also notable chiropractic wise in that Super Bowl was Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers (his father is a chiropractor in Northern California.)
In February 2009 we had news about the 2009 Steelers Super Bowl Parade which was held in the city of Pittsburgh. The day prior, there was an article featuring the 2009 Best Super Bowl Commercials. The commercials are still available for viewing via Hulu, very cool.
In 2009 you could get a Super Bowl live stream but it took a bit of effort, the post also includes information about radio broadcasts Super Bowl 43 Live Online – Superbowl Internet Broadcast. I believe this year’s 2013 Super Bowl will stream live on NFL.com.
This post about Dennys Free Grand Slam Superbowl Ad Fail is still interesting today because I suspect something similar may happen to companies that are advertising during the game. Basically, millions of people try to visit the Denny’s website after their commercial aired, and the site went down. The same thing happened for Vizio, who was advertising in their first Super Bowl.
The 2009 Super Bowl 43 – Superbowl Schedule and Guide was exactly that, a guide that included information about that years game. I had even mentioned twitter search operators for following the Super Bowl, something not a lot of people were doing at the time.
A friend of mine, inventor of the Bacon Explosion Top 2009 Superbowl Recipe, ended up being invited to cook one at the game. His website temporarily suffered the same as those mentioned above, since millions of people began searching for bacon explosion recipes after a story about it was featured on numerous television networks and websites. History has shown that Super Bowl related traffic can definitely crash a Web server.
While not Super Bowl related, in December 2008 we featured news about NFL superstar Jerry Rice being named chiropractic spokesman, and he continues with that role today.
Also in 2008, my friend Jennifer Brown was featured in this post: Jenn Brown & Warren Sapp on Inside The NFL Showtime. Both Jenn Brown and Warren Sapp are doing pro and college football commentating to this day.
The chiropractor’s choice award was our way of making a list of 2008 Best Super Bowl Commercials, we had chiropractors from across the country vote for their favorites (that tradition has continued but we’ve moved the discussion to twitter @chiropractic).
For February 2008 there was a Superbowl Kickoff & 2008 Super Bowl Guide as well as a Guide to 2008 NFL Football Super Bowl XLII. The first was more about trends taking place (good information for those at the time doing search engine optimization) related to the game. The 2nd was the actual guide. Fascinating that each year people want to know things specifically like what time does the Super Bowl start? Kickoff for the game on February 3rd is at 6:30 PM Eastern time.
Way back in 2006 I posted an article titled SuperBowl ads bring on the PAIN. That post was more an opportunity to talk about dangers associated with nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, which had been featured in that years Super Bowl commercials.
Tucked away in the 2001 archives was Emmitt Smith Giving Good Advice to LaDainian Tomlinson, advising him to get weekly massages and find a good chiropractor. I love when I hear pro athletes saying positive things like that.
