Planning Chiropractic Continuing Education for 2014

October is my birth month, and as every licensed chiropractor in the United States knows, the month of your birth is also the month you better have your chiropractic relicensing complete. I love attending continuing education conferences, so much so, that I'm already planning where I'll be going to get my 24 hours of continuing education in 2014.

October is my birth month, and as every licensed chiropractor in the United States knows, the month of your birth is also the month you better have your chiropractic relicensing complete. I love attending continuing education conferences, so much so, that I’m already planning where I’ll be going to get my 24 hours of continuing education in 2014.

High Roller Las VegasThe photograph is of the currently under construction Las Vegas High Roller which is being built by Caesars Entertainment. Earlier this month I was at a four-day conference in Las Vegas and I’ve been noticing that it’s becoming more and more popular as a destination for chiropractic seminars. I’ve been going to Parker Seminars in the month of January for more than 10 years, but it’s great to see other chiropractic groups are beginning to add Las Vegas as a chiropractic continuing education destination.

Thanks to Planet Chiropractic, I go to more chiropractic events than I imagine most chiropractors go to. It’s not uncommon for me to attend a chiropractic seminar every month, sometimes two times per month, but I don’t always sit for continuing education hours. This year the state of California increased hours for chiropractors from 12 hours per year to 24 hours per year, which meant at least one extra weekend getting education. Don’t know about the rest of you, but it’s fine by me, I enjoy getting to see everyone and learning something new.

Parker Seminars will be holding their annual event January 9-11, 2014 at the Rio Hotel in Las Vegas. Even if you’re not going for continuing education, this is one of those events that I recommend all chiropractors go to every year. There’s power in numbers.

I was delighted to see that my alumni (Cleveland Chiropractic College) will be hosting a continuing education alumni chiropractic event on February 28th through March 2, 2014 at the Flamingo Hotel in Las Vegas. The Flamingo Hotel is located center on the strip and its nearby the construction for the High Roller (don’t know if it will be complete by then). If you haven’t been to Las Vegas in a while there’s been some great expansion going on near the center of the strip. Imperial Palace has been rebranded as The Quad and there is an entire shopping area (to be known as The Linq) being constructed between Harrah’s Casino and The Quad. Good times for family while you’re getting your relicensing hours.

And that’s the reality. For me, getting to Las Vegas from Los Angeles is an easy trip, and I get no complaints from the family. We can drive the scenic route through the Mojave Desert or jump on a Southwest flight from LAX and be in Vegas about an hour later. So when I go to chiropractic events in Las Vegas I can bring the family know they’ll be having a good time with or without me.

Something else I like about conferences in Las Vegas is the opportunity to go out to dinner with colleagues. Las Vegas is one place where we haven’t had any problems getting tables for large groups, primarily since there’s so many restaurants to choose from. You can stay up all night talking chiropractic in a Las Vegas hotel bar and nobody will complain like hotel management often does when we attend conferences in other cities.

Schofield Chiropractic Training also has a Las Vegas seminar planned I believe for March 2014, I’ll post those dates when I get them. No continuing education for that event but I always recommend attending an event featuring Dr. Fred Schofield.

So if you see me in Las Vegas in 2014 I won’t be the guy walking down the strip with the 100 ounce Margarita, I’ll be getting my chiropractic continuing education and catching up with my colleagues. Maybe, just maybe, we’ll get a group together and do a trip on the High Roller when construction is complete. That would make a great photo op for my 2015 seminars in Las Vegas post.
