A Little Bit of Poison

You may not hear about it much in the press, but the painkiller for those hell bent on killing themselves is the same painkiller hospitals recommend most. According to a recent article featured on Yahoo News, intentional overdoses from Acetaminophen in the UK are continuing despite the measures to reduce deaths.

Acetaminophen is the active ingredient in Tylenol and many other pain killers. It seems rather odd that such a compound would be a choice of hospitals for killing pain. Is there a lack of this deadly poison within the body?

According to the article, Acetaminophen is involved in “an estimated 70,000 deliberate overdoses per year” in the UK with possible severe liver damage and death occurring as a result. The article pointed out that acetaminophen overdoses are just as popular in the US. It was stated that acetaminophen “remains the most popular drug for attempted suicide in Western society,” according to the article.

So maybe you don’t take 100 capsules a day, maybe you take two a day or five a day or ten a day. What happens after two years or five years or ten years of ingesting this poison? Are you slowly reducing the ability of your body to comprehend and adapt to it’s environment? How much poison can your body physically take before it’s support systems fail?
