By Daria Belov Marathons taking place this weekend across the United States include the Rocket City Marathon in Huntsville Alabama, the Thunder Road Marathon in Charlotte North Carolina, the White Rock Marathon in Dallas Texas, and the 2008 Marathon in Honolulu, Hawaii. The Alabama Marathon and the North Carolina Marathon took place today, Saturday December 13, 2008. The 2008 Dallas Marathon and Honolulu marathon events are scheduled for Sunday morning, December 14th. For those running and volunteering, we put together a list of marathon sites, along with links for marathon results and photos. Here is to running and being healthy! Rocket City Marathon in Huntsville Alabama - This is the 31st Annual Rocket City Marathon taking place in Huntsville Alabama. The race is conducted by the Huntsville Track Club and it's a quality event. It's a gently rolling and fast course that starts on Church Street and Williams Avenue and ends on Lowe Ave. Here's the official race website, a link for race results (may not appear until midweek), and a link for photos from the event. 2008 Rocket City Marathon Results

Rocket City Marathon Official Website Thunder Road Marathon in Charlotte North Carolina - The Charlotte North Carolina Thunder Road Marathon is a Boston Marathon Qualifier. Race day is Saturday, December 13, beginning at 8 a.m. The marathon course has a six-hour time limit and runners who cannot maintain a 13:45 per mile pace will be asked to leave the course for their own safety. The race starts in the heart of Uptown Charlotte and transitions away from town on Randolph and Providence Roads. Runners will pass through oak-lined Foxcroft community near Sharon Road and Arbor Way and historic Myers Park. The race passes through the North Davidson area (NoDa) and back toward uptown Charlotte. Thunder Road Marathon Official Website White Rock Marathon in Dallas Texas - The Dallas Marathon takes place on Sunday, December 14, 2008. The race begins and ends in Victory Park at the American Airlines Center near downtown Dallas and runs to and around scenic White Rock Lake. The 26.2-mile certified course is mostly flat with some rolling hills. Along the way, runners will pass through the woodsy Turtle Creek area, beautiful Highland Park, around White Rock Lake, through lovely Lakewood and down the Swiss Avenue historical district. 2008 Dallas White Rock Marathon Results

White Rock Marathon Official Website Honolulu Marathon - The Honolulu marathon is one of the largest yearly marathons (NYC Marathon is massive and I believe the biggest) taking place in the United States. Race day is Sunday, December 14th, and race start time is 5 a.m. People travel from all over the world to participate in the Honolulu Marathon with many runners coming from mainland USA and Japan. The Honolulu Marathon starts on Ala Moana Boulevard, which in Hawaiian means "path by the ocean." At the starting point is Ala Moana Beach Park, a local recreation area that encompasses more than 100 acres of park, beaches, swimming in surfing spots. The course passes through Honolulu Harbor, Chinatown, downtown Honolulu, Waikiki Beach, and features stunning ocean views and historical landmarks. 2008 Honolulu Marathon Results
