2009 WordCamp San Francisco on Saturday

It's that time of year again, when hundreds of bloggers and tech geeks, converge on the Mission Bay Conference Center in San Francisco, for WordCamp 2009. This is the third year straight I'm heading to San Francisco for the event, and as in the past, I'm rather excited about it. It's likely a great majority of chiropractors know nothing about WordCamp or even WordPress, but I suspect more chiropractic blogs operate on the WordPress platform than any other blogging platform available. So there's definitely some chiropractors knowledgeable about blogging and WordPress. This weekend's event is sold out, and there is an amazing lineup of speakers, as well as attendees.

It’s that time of year again, when hundreds of bloggers and tech geeks, converge on the Mission Bay Conference Center in San Francisco, for WordCamp 2009. This is the third year straight I’m heading to San Francisco for the event, and as in the past, I’m rather excited about it. It’s likely a great majority of chiropractors know nothing about WordCamp or even WordPress, but I suspect more chiropractic blogs operate on the WordPress platform than any other blogging platform available. So there’s definitely some chiropractors knowledgeable about blogging and WordPress. This weekend’s event is sold out, and there is an amazing lineup of speakers, as well as attendees.

As described on the 2009 San Francisco WordCamp site, “WordCamp San Francisco is a conference organized by the creators of WordPress for our users and developers. Everyone from casual users to core developers participate, share ideas, and get to know each other. The event is open to WordPress.com & WordPress.org users alike.”

This year’s 2009 San Francisco WordCamp event is a one day power packed Saturday program, with a WordCamp developer Day scheduled on Sunday (at the Automattic office on Pier 38 in San Francisco). There is also going to be a 6th anniversary party for WordPress on Saturday night, beginning at 8 PM. It is going to be a full weekend for attendees, with the program getting underway on Saturday morning at 9 AM (registration is at eight) and continuing throughout the day until a goodbye wrap up from WordPress founder Matt Mullenweg (a.k.a. Photo Matt).

I love that WordCamp is held on weekends, as it’s given me the opportunity to attend events each year, and not miss time out of my LA chiropractic office. The 2007 WordCamp was a blast, with about 400 people in attendance at the Swedish American Hall in San Francisco. That event took place on July 21 and 22nd, 2007. The 2008 WordCamp in San Francisco was even better, since it was held at the Mission Bay Conference Center, and the accommodations, food and WiFi really rocked. Back in January, I had the opportunity to speak at the inaugural 2009 WordCamp in Las Vegas, covering a topic on WordPress SEO Basics.

As I mentioned earlier, there are now hundreds of chiropractic blogs running on the WordPress platform, or utilizing WordPress.com for blog hosting. There are so many different ways to use WordPress, and I won’t get into details here, but if you’re seeking to build a blog, or looking for a place to have your blog hosted, be sure to check out what WordPress has to offer. There is also a gazillion themes available (many of them being free) which provides you an opportunity to customize your blog the way that’s right for you.

If you’re going to be at WordCamp, be sure to say hello. I shouldn’t be difficult to spot as I’ll be wearing my bright yellow or bright green @chiropractic twitter T-shirt.
