AAPS Speaks Out on Vaccination
planetc1.com-news email to the editor

The Association of American Physicians and Surgeons speaks out on the issue of childhood vaccination.

According to an article published in the January 7th, 2001 issue of the Houston Chronicle, some medical doctors believe that parents should have a say as to what vaccines are vital for their children.

While some will tell you that all medical doctors agree on the issue of vaccination, that is simply not the case. Some doctors are concerned that "parents aren't getting the complete story about the pros and cons" regarding vaccination, according to the article.

Putting your child at risk? These doctors think so. The article states that, as a result of federal mandates, parents may be putting their children at "great risk" if the individual health needs of the child are not taken into consideration.

One vaccine in question is the Hepatitis B vaccine. The article states that "According to the government's own statistics, children under the age of 14 are three times more likely to suffer adverse effects -- including death -- following the hepatitis B vaccine than to catch the disease itself."

And just how do you get Hepatitis B? The disease is "usually transmitted between multiple sex partners, drug abusers or adults who work in health care professions," according to the article. How many newborns do you know that fall into those categories?

The president of the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons believes that "parents, with the advice of their doctors, should make decisions about their children's medical care -- not government agencies."

May we add to that? Parents, along with the advice of their doctors, should make decisions about their children's health care -- not government agencies.
