Burst Resistant Fitness Balls Recalled

Busted balls can be hazardous to your health. News is being reported from the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) that a number of fitness balls are being recalled due to a fall hazard. The fitness balls, which were manufactured in China, have been Recalled by EB Brands, manufacturer for a number of fitness ball products.

Busted balls can be hazardous to your health. News is being reported from the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) that a number of fitness balls are being recalled due to a fall hazard. The fitness balls, which were manufactured in China, have been Recalled by EB Brands, manufacturer for a number of fitness ball products.

Fitness Balls Recalled by EB Brands Due to Fall Hazard The voluntary recall announcement was made on April 16, 2009, by the US Consumer Product Safety Commission and EB Brands. About 3 million units are involved in the recall, which involves a hazard of overinflated balls bursting while in use.

Fitness ball products affected by the recall include product brands such as Bally Total Fitness, Everlast, Valeo and Body Fit Fitness Balls. The manufacturer is EB Brands, which is based out of Yonkers New York.

According to the product safety commission, there is a hazard involving overinflated fitness balls, which can unexpectedly burst while in use, resulting in users falling to the floor. The product manufacturer has received 47 reports of fitness balls unexpectedly bursting, including reports of fracture, and multiple bruises.

The ball recall involves rubber fitness balls sold in 55, 65, and 75 cm diameter sizes. The balls were sold along with a pump and inflation instructions. Balls were sold in various colors and featured the Bally Total Fitness, Everlast or Valeo logo printed on the ball.

The items were sold at department stores and fitness retailers nationwide from May 2000 through February of 2009 for prices ranging between $15 and $30 per ball.
