California Chiropractor Awarded Business Person of the Year

On Friday, January 26, the Hayward California Chamber of Commerce presented Dr. Gerard W. Clum, D.C., with the Business Person of the Year Award, at the chamber's annual celebration awards night. Dr. Clum, President of Life West Chiropractic College, was selected on the basis of his success in directing Life West, as well as contributions made to Hayward's business community, volunteer work provided to local community organizations, and service to the chiropractic profession.

During the ceremony, the Hayward Chamber recognized Life West's estimated economic impact on the Hayward community to be more than $50 million annually. In addition, they also applauded the college's public health center, which offers affordable health care to the Hayward community and presently provides more than 1800 patient visits a week.

Dr. Clum also received a special surprise from Life West students, faculty and staff just two days prior. On January 24th, a surprise party was given for Dr. Clum in celebration of his 20th year as the college's first and only president. Dr. Clum stated "It's amazing - I can't remember not being here, and at the same time it has been a blink of an eye." Dr. Clum went on to say that "The great part of this job has not been the faculty, has not been the politics - but it has been all of the people who have passed my way that makes this a job and an avocation."
