I want to tell you today about a patient, actually a couple. The husband came to me first. He had low back pain. Sounds pretty typical so far. He is a retired pharmacist. He was taking something for every symptom he had and somehow he decided to try chiropractic for his low back pain. I did my usual consultation, exam and took a few x-rays. Then I explained Chiropractic to him and warned him that he should keep an eye on his blood pressure and diabetes medications because as his body starts working better he might need to have his meds adjusted. He said okay but he looked at me like I was crazy. His next visit was our doctors report and he didn’t bring his wife as we had asked him to. I asked him why he didn’t bring her and he told me that she doesn’t go out of the house since she had a stroke last year and doesn’t move around easily. He then told me that I would get to meet her on his next visit because now that he heard about how chiropractic works he plans to bring her in on his next visit.

Sure enough he brought her in on his next visit. She was effected pretty badly by the stroke. She couldn’t even lay down on the table. She responded to chiropractic almost immediately and by the third adjustment she could lay down with the help of my two associates, one CA and myself. She seemed to get better every time she came in.

After 12 visits I sat down with her and her husband and I did a re-exam. I was truly a miracle! Her physical improvements were remarkable. As we were about to leave the room her husband spoke up. He said that he appreciated me for all of the physical improvements that his wife was enjoying but the physical improvements were minor compared to the cognitive changes that she has experienced!

Last week he told me that he went to his MD and he is decreasing his medications and that he came off some of his meds. His blood pressure and diabetes have been improving steadily and he is hoping to be able to stop taking the meds soon. All this coming from a retired pharmacist. Oh by the way his low back feels better, most of the time anyway.

Is this a miracle or is that just what happens when we remove the pressure on the nervous system so that the power that made the body can heal the body? No we don’t treat strokes, diabetes or high blood pressure, we don’t treat anything. The body heals itself, we just turn the body on. I see miracles every day in my practice. I also see people come in with symptoms that I would bet would go away once they got adjusted and their symptomatic picture doesn’t change at all. Why does that happen? Don’t know. I just know how to remove subluxations. Symptoms are caused by all kinds of things. The one thing I know for sure is that when you have a subluxation you would be better without the subluxation, no matter what happens to you symptomatically. No matter what!

As a chiropractor I need to keep telling it. It is the truth. If the patient never heard my orientation he might have never brought his wife in to the office. She never had any back pain.

Chiropractic is the miracle and those of you who choose to work in the chiropractic profession are miracle workers.
