Hayward, California - A study on health-related quality of life improvements and Directional Non-Force Technique Chiropractic was published in the December 2011 issue of the Chiropractic Journal of Australia, a peer reviewed journal. The primary author is Kim Khauv D.C. and Life West faculty member, and alumnus, and co-author is Christopher John D.C. from Beverly Hills, California.

The article titled "Health-related Quality of Life Improvements in Adult Patients with Chronic Low Back Pain under Low-force Chiropractic Care: A Practice-based Study," details a study involving 22 chiropractic offices. Each recruited six participants totaling 131 adult patients who suffered from chronic low-back issues where the pain lasted longer than three months. These patients had never experienced Directional Non-Force Technique chiropractic care prior to the study. The treatment plan consisted of six total visits within approximately four weeks. At the end of the study, patients experienced statistically significant improvements in general health, functional disability, pain and overall quality of life.

Dr. Khauv looks forward to a follow-up study measuring longer term quality of life outcomes with particular regard to the cost effectiveness of chiropractic care. He says, "The study and its results are congruent with the Life West research directive regarding quality of life, pediatrics and nervous system. It is a meaningful contribution to the mounting evidence for the effectiveness of chiropractic adjustments."

Dr. Christopher John is pleased to team with Dr Khauv and Life West in validating the results of DNFT chiropractic in an area of public health that costs the United States over 100 billion dollars annually.

Life West, established in 1976, is an accredited non-profit institution of higher learning. Over 4,500 graduates of Life West are now providing chiropractic care worldwide. The college's Health Center, a public outpatient facility staffed by approximately 150 senior interns who are guided by licensed doctors of chiropractic, provides affordable health care to more than 1,000 patients per week in the city of Hayward, California.
