planetc1.com-news email to the editor
By Michael Dorausch, D.C.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported today that Dr. Sid Williams, founder of Life University, has retired as president of the nations largest chiropractic school. (link below)

As of today, a special committee of the Board at Life is considering candidates for the position of interim president and hopes to complete this activity by Friday July 12, 2002. The committee is also interviewing candidates for president of the University on a permanent basis by the end of July 2002.

Some events that occurred during the past few days:

• June 18, 2002 - Dr. Rebecca Ray resigned as a member of the Board of Trustees, the Chair of the Board of Trustees and also as a member of the “corporate members”.
• June 25, 2002 - Dr. Charles Ribley was elected the Chairperson of the Board of Trustees.
• July 1, 2002 – Dr. Ron Kirk resigned as Dean of the College of Chiropractic and has returned to the faculty.
• July 2, 2002 – Dr. Deborah Pogrelis was appointed acting Dean of the College of Chiropractic.
• July 3, 2002 - the terms of Dr. Jim Sigafoose and Dr. Paul Penn as members of the Board of Trustees were not renewed by the corporate members.
• July 8, 2002 - Life University files an intent to appeal with the CCE.

The Board of Trustees has set up a weblink for students, faculty, and interested parties to get more information:

Dr. Bob Braile of Now You Know (and next door neighbor of Dr. Sid Williams) has set up a website which has lots of news links related to what's going on at Life University. www.dc2be.com

Marietta Daily Journal: Life U. panel meets today on successor to Williams

It has been nearly a month since the CCE had revoked Lifes accreditation and I must admit I am quite surprised at the lack of feedback I have heard from chiropractic leaders that are graduates of Life and/or have spent years attending Dynamic Essentials programs. What's up with that?
