Drug Trial Dangers Featured on 60 Minutes

Did you see last nights 60 Minutes report on doctors that are being paid to perform drug trials? If you missed it, click the CBS News link below so that you can read the related article.According to the article on CBSNews.com, many of the doctors now doing studies for drug companies are family M.D.s that are looking to earn extra cash, rather than Ph.D. researchers. The article reads of reports of patients suffering serious side effects as the result of being part of research drug studies, falsification of documents, bogus urine samples, fake lab specimens, blood tests, etc... In one case, patients did not reportedly qualified for a research study and then suddenly they "miraculously" qualified for the study same after the data was falsified by the researching M.D., according to the article. According to the article, research studies on humans involve about one million subjects and the government has recently found that not all of the so-called volunteers are aware that they are volunteering for drug studies.
