Gene Giggleman Appointed President of the American Veterinary Chiropractic Association

Parker Chiropractic News Dallas, Texas -- The American Veterinary Chiropractic Association (AVCA) named Dr. Gene Giggleman, dean of Academics at Parker College of Chiropractic, the newest president of the organization. The AVCA is a group of veterinarians and chiropractors working together within their disciplines to expand and promote the knowledge and acceptance of animal chiropractic to their professions, the public, and governments.  Dr. Giggleman has been serving as the president-elect for two years and will now serve a two-year term as acting president. He hopes to facilitate some changes that will advance the profession of animal chiropractic and allow more animals to receive the benefits of chiropractic care.
"We want to get more doctors certified and make sure that only those who are licensed are practicing animal chiropractic," said Dr. Giggleman. Since 1989, nearly 900 animal chiropractic professionals have been certified, and with the growing popularity of animal chiropractic care, the demand for qualified practitioners is still high. The AVCA developed the industry standard of care, knowledge, and experience required for animal chiropractic, and only those who have completed the certification should have the authority to practice animal chiropractic. Still, discrepancies exist among the government licensing boards and the AVCA in regards to the legal rights of practice. "The animal chiropractic profession is facing the same challenges as the chiropractic profession did with licensing issues," said Dr. Giggleman. It is his goal to bring animal chiropractic into the forefront as a safe and effective alternative for animal care and help the profession gain a place within the legal scope of care. Parker College of Chiropractic hosts one of the AVCA’s approved programs for animal chiropractic certification and is among the world leaders in animal chiropractic post graduate education. Dr. Giggleman played an integral role in establishing the program at Parker and currently serves as an instructor in the course.
