Guy Riekeman Named President Of Palmer College Of Chiropractic West; Will Preside Over Both Colleges
Forwarded by Media Relations; Palmer Chiropractic University System

(Davenport, Iowa) Guy F. Riekeman, D.C., has been appointed president of Palmer College of Chiropractic West, San Jose, Calif. Dr. Riekeman will remain president of Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa, assuming dual presidency of the colleges of the Palmer Chiropractic University System.

Chancellor Michael E. Crawford made the announcement in person at San Jose and on video at Davenport during meetings at the two colleges on February 1. The new responsibilities are effective immediately.

"Dr. Riekeman's leadership at Palmer College has been unparalleled, and his assuming the presidency of both Palmer College and Palmer College West will help us accelerate our progress," said Chancellor Crawford. "This is the first time in the history of the Palmer colleges that we will have a single president for both institutions, and I am confident that Dr. Riekeman is up to the challenge. His energy, vision and passion will be instrumental in enhancing the leadership role of Palmer Chiropractic in the profession."

The two colleges were brought together under a single Board of Trustees 10 years ago with the creation of the Palmer Chiropractic University System. The University System's stated mission is to "provide a focused voice for Palmer Chiropractic" and to implement operational efficiencies by sharing resources.

Other entities subsequently created through the University System to serve the chiropractic profession include the Palmer Center for Chiropractic Research, the Palmer Institute for Professional Advancement and the Palmer Foundation for Chiropractic History. Under the new structure, the Palmer Center for Chiropractic Research also will report to Dr. Riekeman.

The other two entities will have separate corporate structures and, like the single president, continue to report directly to the chancellor.
The single presidency for the entire Palmer Chiropractic educational program paves the way for the implementation of a common curriculum for the two present colleges and a third campus planned for Port Orange, Fla. "A common presidency for all Palmer colleges and a common curriculum will assure a common definition of Palmer Chiropractic," Chancellor Crawford said. "A Palmer Chiropractor will graduate with a similar student experience, skills and values wherever he received his education," Chancellor Crawford said.

"I am humbled, honored and excited by the possibilities afforded by this new appointment," Dr. Riekeman said. "More than ever, Palmer Chiropractic will be fulfilling its mission to present the chiropractic profession to the world, and I will devote myself to ensuring that we are worthy of that responsibility. The Palmer colleges in Davenport, California and Florida will continue to graduate the best chiropractors the world has to offer, and we will take our leadership role seriously in communicating the Big Idea of Chiropractic to a world hungry for a new way of living in health and wellness."
