Medicine Kills Worldwide
planetc1.com-news email to the editor

A Yahoo! news report today states that "almost 200,000 people die every year in China from taking old, fake, or inappropriate medicine at home." According to the article, a Chinese consumers association has issued a formal warning to get people to pay closer attention to the drugs they are taking.

The article states that "more than 2.5 million of the 50 million people admitted to the hospital each year in China suffer from the bad effects of medicine they have taken themselves."

So if "bad medicine" is killing 200,000 per year, what about "good medicine"?

** According to the July 26, 2000 issue of JAMA, 225,000 Americans are dying yearly from iatrogenic disease. What is iatrogenic disease you may ask? It's what you get when you go to the hospital.

Drugs are drugs whether you take them at home, in a hospital, in a high school bathroom, or nurses office. The fatalities will keep rising until we collectively do something about it.
