From the Gannett News Service comes an article with the headline "Vaccine Safety Advocates Concerned About Immune Systems."This past weekend, the National Vaccine Information Center held a three day conference at the Sheraton National Hotel in Arlington, Virginia. According to the article, vaccine safety advocates decried the almost universal lack of testing infant immune systems before babies receive their shots to see if they've been compromised by infection or genetic weakness. The 3-day event was attended by scientists, academics and doctors which involved open sessions of an international public conference on vaccination. Particular concern was expressed regarding the "possible connection between childhood vaccinations and increasing rates of childhood chronic illness, especially autistic behavior", according to the article. The article states that "pediatricians are routinely giving infants and toddlers inoculations even if they have colds, the flu, or other sicknesses, potentially increasing the chances of adverse reactions." This is occurring even though, "right on the manufacturer's information sheet packed with the dosage vial is a warning that says do not give the vaccine to immune-compromised or immune-suppressed individuals," the article further stated. According to the article, one of the biggest disorders discussed at the conference was the staggering increase in Autism. According to the article, in some areas "the incidence of autism in the 90's has grown from the national average of about three in 10,000 children to one in 150 children or one in 132 children with California being most effected.
