Palmer NewsPalmer Homecoming 2008, August 7-9, Features a Stellar Line-up of Speakers, Up to 21 Continuing Education (CE) Credits, Vendor Expo and Social Events  Palmer College of Chiropractic will host Homecoming 2008 on its Davenport, Iowa, campus August 7-9, 2008. The program features a slate of new continuing education speakers as well as familiar faces leading sessions, along with Palmer’s traditional social and networking events. As always, the event includes a vendor expo featuring the latest chiropractic products and services. Up to 21 Continuing Education credits are available for chiropractors attending this year’s event, depending on the state in which they practice and that state’s licensure requirements. There also is a track for chiropractic staff.
General sessions at this year’s Homecoming on the Davenport Campus include: "Charting Chiropractic’s Future: Change, Context and Identity," with Bram Briggance, Ph.D.; "A Tribute to Vickie Palmer" and "Palmer’s Vision 2013"; "Chiropractic’s Role in the Wellness Lifestyle," with Maurice Pisciottano, D.C.; "Nutritional Solutions for Thyroid and Adrenal Health," with Janet Lang, D.C.; "The Establishment of Cultural Authority on Spine Related Disorders: The Results of the Bone and Joint Decade 2000-2010 Task Force on Neck Pain and its Associated Disorders," with Scott Haldeman, D.C., Ph.D., M.D.; and "Your Body is Your Subconscious Mind: Emotions and the Autonomic Nervous System," with Candace Pert, Ph.D. Some event highlights include the alumni luncheon on Friday, during which the new Palmer College of Chiropractic Alumni Association directors will be introduced, as well as class reunions, the Talent Show on Wednesday evening, the children’s program and the official ribbon cutting for the Palmer Center for Business Development. Social and networking events include Palmer Night on Friday, which offers a Celebration Riverboat Cruise on the Mississippi River or an evening at Davenport’s River Music Experience featuring live music, along with the traditional Saturday Night Festival. There also will be a family event option on Friday evening featuring dinner and a family-oriented comedy performance. To help protect the environment, this year’s Homecoming event is ecologically friendly. Rather than printing speaker notes, they will be posted on the website prior to the event. All print pieces and other paperwork will be printed on recycled paper using vegetable-based inks whenever possible. Additionally, there will be more recycling bins placed around the campus during this year’s Homecoming.
