The lab is filled with Dr. States photos, awards, degrees, and other pieces of memorabilia. A large painting of the stages in Dr. States life produced by his daughter, Marian McCallister, hangs on the wall. Adjusting tables also fill the lab, which will be used by students at Parker College.

Dr. States passed away in January 2009. Dr. States practiced in Chicago, Illinois, for 27 years before moving to Highland Village, Texas to work at Parker College. He taught students for more than 19 years and was chairperson of the Department Analysis and Technique. He became the first Professor Emeritus at Parker College.

People who were very impacted by Dr. States spoke about what an inspiring man he was. Dr. Ron Wells, faculty member at Parker College of Chiropractic, explained that Dr. States was one of the professors who taught him before becoming a faculty member at Parker College. Dr. States continued to teach him throughout the years as his mentor. “Everything Dr. States did exemplified the best of the best,” said Dr. Wells. “He loved this college and chiropractic and I’m a better man for knowing him.”

Another Parker College faculty member, Dr. Marty Hall, explained that Dr. States was a truly significant chiropractor who started a lab book that became a standard technique used by chiropractors around the world. “The actual meaning of the word technique is a true art form and Dr. States understood that completely,” said Dr. Hall.

Dr. States was a published author of several books that are used in classes at chiropractic colleges around the world. He was well known in the chiropractic field having lectured in Japan, Europe, and every state in the United States with the exception of three.

In 2005, Dr. States became an alumni award recipient and was presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award for his overall contributions to Parker College and the chiropractic profession. Alumni remember him for the yellow rose he gave students that showed exceptional proficiency in his technique labs. “He was a friend to all of his students,” said Dr. Terry Yokum, one of his students.

“This lab will always bear his name and continue to honor his presence at Parker,” said Dr. Mancini, president of Parker College of Chiropractic.
