Last week the Los Angeles Times reported that AIDS researchers are finding that gaps in drug therapy have helped some AIDS patients.

The approach is called structured treatment interruption or STI. The theory behind STI is to stop giving drugs and allow the immune system an opportunity to comprehend and adapt to its environment, which will allow the body to mount an immune response against the virus. Researchers are having mixed results but some are reporting that their patients are now staying off expensive and dangerous AIDS drugs for long periods.

The concept of STI sounds incredible and I would like to take this opportunity to help our brothers and sisters in the research world. Here are some suggestions for a method of STI we could apply to all forms of medical care.

Method STI: at birth, rather than pump babies chock-full of drugs, vaccines, monkey pus, pig mucous, and other poisons, we give their immune systems a chance to develop natural resistance mechanisms. In order for the immune system to function appropriately, the nervous system needs to be in an optimal state. We would observe these children by bringing them in for regular chiropractic care to insure that their nervous systems are functioning optimally. Since the nervous system is responsible for the control and coordination of all the bodies functions, including immune function, it would appear that a nervous system free from interference would be primary in this form of care. Add to that a (drug) structured treatment interruption of, lets say a lifetime, or until absolutely necessary. This would give the immune system its best opportunity to develop an immune response to anything that it came in contact with.

We could also introduce the world to the many children and families that have been growing up living this way for years. Families that live their lives without the use of drugs and maintain maximal natural health expression by keeping their nervous systems clear from interference. Fortunately these families can be found in chiropractic offices today, so those looking to study the STI protocol would not have to go far.

Sometimes researchers come up with some great ideas but they need help in seeing the big picture. We’ll be sure to keep reminding them.
