Thanksgiving Recipes

Like most everyone else in America, chiropractors are gearing up for the short upcoming work week, and looking forward to a four-day 2008 Thanksgiving weekend. Earlier today, Dr. Michael Dorausch organized seven different Thanksgiving side dish videos, which motivated me to search out various thanksgiving recipes, and put together a list. From pumpkin cheesecake to cranberry relish, I decided to search blogs for recent Thanksgiving recipe related posts, and put together a list you could use throughout this upcoming Thanksgiving week.

Many of the recipes below use similar ingredients, so you may want to check out several of the posts before putting together your shopping list. The recipe for the chocolate crepes with cranberry sauce is available on the notes from my food diary blog. Among the ingredients are milk, vegetable oil, eggs, vanilla extract, sugar, baking cocoa, an optional vanilla ice cream and or whipped cream.

For those of you into pumpkin swirl cheesecake, there is a recipe available on the eMaxHealth.com blog. Ingredients in the pumpkin swirl cheesecake recipe include crushed ginger snap cookies, pecans, butter, cream cheese, white sugar, vanilla extract, eggs, pumpkin, cinnamon, and others.

I also found a pumpkin cheesecake recipe on the home-based Mom blog. Ingredients for that cheesecake include grand cracker crumbs, butter, sugar, softened cream cheese, canned pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, whipped cream, and more. It’s a nicely done blog post with photos and cheesecake cooking directions.

For those seeking a recipe for cranberry chutney I have included this video which features a chef showing us how to make the tart and flavorful side dish. The video shown here, and six others, have been organized into a blog post as well.

The blog, thinkinsidetheicebox.com, has a nice countdown to Thanksgiving post featuring a cranberry chutney recipe. Ingredients include chopped Granny Smith apples, cranberries, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, cinnamon, ground ginger, raisins, and others. The post includes a couple of nice photographs as well. Tasty looking chutney.

Maybe you’re in search of cranberry relish or cranberry sauce, if that’s the case check out a bend in the road post featuring Deb’s Cranberry Relish. It’s a cranberry orange relish to be specific, and it looks delicious. Don’t forget the crushed pineapple.

Moving to some other dishes, there is a sweet post by Meryl (aka Puppymomma) appearing on the inspired bites blog for sweet potato casserole. The post includes some really great photographs of the casserole, and there’s ample directions on preparation and cooking. Ingredients include mashed sweet potatoes, butter, brown sugar, vanilla, pecans, honey, sugar, chipotle chile powder, and some others.

There always has to be room for dessert, so check out the homesick Texan blog, for a recipe on Uncle Richard’s sweet potato pie. It’s another post that features some nice photographs from the preparation and finished product. Ingredients include mashed sweet potatoes, eggs, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, cloves, salt, and evaporated milk.

Don’t forget the green vegetables, and for that you can go with a green bean casserole. Here’s a link to a simple post on flickr with a photo of the finished product, along with listed ingredients.

The blog, green little bites, has a post for preparing up crockpot sweet potatoes. Beside the sweet potatoes, ingredients on this side dish recipe include honey, molasses, balsamic vinegar, ground allspice, and fresh parsley.

That’s a pretty good list for now, I’ll continue searching for Thanksgiving side dishes, turkey recipes, cheesecake recipes, cranberry related recipes (I love cranberry sauce), casseroles, cornbread, and some stuffing recipes. Think I’ll also look for some vegetarian recipes since there’s probably a number of our regular planetchiropractic.com readers that don’t eat meat.

If you have any Thanksgiving recipes you’d want to share, or you have links for good side dish recipes, post them to the comments in the side dish recipes video post. That what we have all the recipes organized in one place.

Please be safe on the roads everyone, it’s already getting crazy around supermarket parking lots and shopping centers. Wishing you an enjoyable 2008 Thanksgiving holiday.
