Tips on Halloween Costumes for Chiropractors

For those that participate, it's that time of year when people start thinking about what they are going to wear for Halloween. Paris Hilton, Superman, Spiderman, and Captain Jack Sparrow will all be popular for 2006. While there are lots of popular costumes to choose from this year, I thought I'd put together a brief list of costumes that would probably not be a good idea for a chiropractor in practice to wear.

For those that participate, it’s that time of year when people start thinking about what they are going to wear for Halloween. Paris Hilton, Superman, Spiderman, and Captain Jack Sparrow will all be popular for 2006. While there are lots of popular costumes to choose from this year, I thought I’d put together a brief list of costumes that would probably not be a good idea for a chiropractor in practice to wear.

Edward Scissorhands
Remember the story of that uncommonly gentle man who lived in a historic mansion way up on the hill? Edward was created by an inventor who died before finishing him. As a result he left Edward with scissors where he should have hands. Great for gardeners and hairdressers but probably not a good idea in a chiropractic office.

Michael Myers
Not Mike Myers as in Shrek, the Cat in the Hat, Austin Powers, or Wayne Campbell, I’m talking about the other Mike Myers, from the movie Halloween, that walks around with a big butcher knife. While it may be an easy costume to make (who doesn’t have a butcher knife in their kitchen) it’s probably not a good idea to go to the office that way. Anyways, butcher knives should only be used in butcher shops, kitchens, and operating rooms.

Freddy Krueger
I don’t know how popular the Freddy Krueger (from Friday the 13th and a Nightmare on Elm Street) costume still is but I’m going to stick with this trend and suggest that any costume that involves razor blade sharp fingers or extensions on one’s hands is probably not going to work well for the chiropractor.

Logan / Wolverine
While most superheroes make great costume ideas for chiropractors, Logan (Wolverine) from X-Men is probably not one of them. On the plus side, Wolverine possesses animal-keen senses and reflexes. He also has a healing factor (super duper innate intelligence) that allows him to recover from virtually any wound. On the downside, (not for a superhero but for our costume ideas) he has razor-sharp retractable claws.

So, even if you’re claws are retractable I’m suggesting you go with something else. No butcher knives, sharp scissors, claws (even retractable ones), or razor finger extensions. How about a bunny rabbit, or Winnie the Pooh, Scooby Doo, or some other furry and cuddly creature?

Okay, have a safe and fun Halloween.
