Where to Vote - Voting Hours and Polling Locations

By Michael Dorausch, DCYou may be asking yourself "Where do I vote?" That's the question being asked by lots of Americans today, and likely many more tomorrow. Thanks to online tools and maps, discovering your polling place and finding out where to vote is a fairly simple task. Whether you are in San Diego, Arizona, or New York City, it shouldn't be a tough task. I won't say who you should vote for or who I think is going win the election, let's just focus on getting you to the polls so you can make your vote count. We've discussed this before, but it's important to address it again, since so many people are seeking to find their polling place and get other voting information. Thanks to Google, we can perform searches like "where do I vote" directly from Google's main page. After you enter your address information, Google maps will return results based on data you entered.  You can go directly to finding your voting location and registration information here. Want to know where to vote in California? Go to the map link above and enter your address information. You can do that for wherever you're located in the United States. Getting polling locations and finding out where to vote are not the only tools offered by Google, just this weekend we pointed out that you can also do searches such as "what time is it" and you'll get back results based on your location. Search features like this come in handy during daylight savings time. So use the map interface to find voting polls and locations in your area. Polls open at different times in different cities and states across the nation. In New York City polls shouold be open at 6 AM and closing at 9 PM. To the best of my knowledge most cities have their polling locations opening either at 6 AM or 7 AM, and polls will close around 9 PM. Polls in Los Angeles open at 7 AM and close at 8 PM. Plan to give yourself plenty of time to get to where you're going when voting on Tuesday. If your polling location is located near a school or playground it is urged that you be extra cautious in the area. Election Tuesday is not a national holiday, and most schools will be open. Be safe!
