Los Angeles, CA: X Games 13 kicks off today at the Staples Center in downtown Los Angeles and the Home Depot Center in Carson, California. The annual X Games is the premier action sports event in the world and it features athletes from across the planet competing for medals and prize money in sports such as MOTO X, BMX freestyle, Skateboarding, and Surfing. This is the fifth consecutive year that the action sports event is being held in Los Angeles.

The Home Depot Center will be hosting a number of X Games competitions including Skateboard Vert (men's and women's), BMX Freestyle Vert, Moto X Freestyle and SuperMoto while the Staples Center will be home to Skateboard Big Air, BMX Freestyle Big Air, Moto X Best Trick and Moto X Step Up.

BMX riders backs get big dirtTelevision coverage for the event is huge. ESPN owns and operates X Games and live television coverage is expected to be seen in about 145 countries throughout the world. There will be coverage on ABC, ESPN, ESPN2, and an estimated 40 hours of coverage will be on the Internet.

Los Angeles chiropractors like Michael Dorausch get their hands dirty this time of year, as summer sports events get hot and those getting adjusted are covered in dirt and sweat. A chiropractor's action sports adjusting tip: Collect lots of promotional T-shirts. Because they're cool? No, because you'll need to change several times throughout the day.

Some BMX riders are already stiff and sore, and a few are pretty banged up, but that won't stop most from pulling the world's most colossal tail whips, triple whips, 720s, turndowns, seat grabs, and maybe some 900s (made famous by BMX superstar Ryan Nyquist).

You can get full coverage information of this year's X Games 13 directly from the EXPN Homepage.
