You Never Know How Far Reaching…

By Super CA Lynne

I had just returned from a weekend in Atlanta at a Dynamic Essentials seminar sat down to read the paper with the thought in my mind, “Are we doing enough, are we telling everyone the benefits of a chiropractic lifestyle? Are we really changing lives?” When I say “we” I am speaking of the Chiropractic profession as a whole. Every speaker this weekend seemed to ask that question. (there was a DE just this past weekend in Toronto)

When I opened the paper I saw the face of an angel. A tiny baby boy who in the first 11 months of his life had fought harder to survive than we will ever have to do in our lifetime. Josh was born by emergency C-section and due to complications was without air for 8-13 minutes at birth. He was diagnosed with severe quadriplegic CP, partially deaf and possibly blind. At 11 months he weighed only 12 pounds, the weight of a 2-3 month old. When I saw the pain on this baby’s face I knew we had to do something.

Chiropractic does not cure anything, I knew that, but I also knew that if Josh was under Chiropractic care and his little body was free of nerve interference his quality of life had to improve. I took the newspaper article into work and asked Dr. D. what we could do. We immediately wrote a letter to the family as follows:

Dear Family of Josh:

Upon reading the recent article in the Expositor, I would like to commend you for your courageous support and difference that you have made in Joshua’s young life. The article made me realize that I could give something to Joshua. I am a chiropractor and what I do, as a chiropractor, is remove interference to the nervous system in the body. This allows the body to function the way it was intended and this makes everyone’s life better. Chiropractic does not cure severe quadriplegic CP. It just removes interference from the God giving life force from within and allows the body to function at the best of its ability, the way it was intended.

If you would like more information about chiropractic please call our clinic, and ask for Lynne. I will do everything I can to be given the opportunity to make a difference in Joshua’s life. Continue to have the strength, faith and courage to carry on.

Yours in Chiropractic,

When I called Josh’s mom to follow up on the letter; she had just opened the mail looked up in to heaven and said, OK God, I hear you.” Apparently that Sunday at church one of our patients told her she thought Josh would benefit from Chiropractic care. That letter was sent out October 19th and by October 22nd Josh and his family were all under care. After Josh’s 3rd adjustment he slept through the night for the first time since birth. We went to Josh’s house every day at lunch to adjust him as his family couldn’t afford the taxi fare to come to the office. Within the next couple of months Josh started to gain weight and when he heard (they said he was deaf) Dr. D.’s voice coming up the stairs he would turn his head and smile. You could just tell he loved getting adjusted. He started to gain weight and by May his weight had doubled. Josh still had many medical problems, it took everything he had just to breathe, but his quality of life was definitely better being under care.

I received a terrible phone call from Dr. D. the Monday of the May long weekend. Josh had passed away in his sleep the previous night. My hair stood up on end and I had a sick feeling in my stomach and my heart ached for his family. I dreaded the thought of going to the funeral home the next day.

That night I was fevered and had a fitful dream filled night. What I thought to be the same recurring dream I now know was a message I had to deliver to Josh’s family. The message was as follows: I walked into a large cathedral type building, at the front of the large room was a tiny white casket and beside the casket stood a beautiful luminous man (who I believe now to have been Jesus). I was drawn to the beautiful light at the front of the room. When I got up to the casket Josh sat up, I was shocked. I said, “Josh how are you? What are you doing?” and he replied, “I’m hungry, but someone is going to feed me now, tell my mom and dad I am OK”. Josh had never been able to eat except through a tube in his tummy because his swallowing reflex had never developed and that always bothered me because I wondered how they ever knew if he was full of not. I guess this was Josh’s way of letting me know he would be full and I was suppose to be a messenger to his parents that he was ok.

The next day when I went to the funeral home, which I had never been to this one before it was just as I had seen it in my dream. My hair stood up and as I approached the casket it seemed to be glowing and Josh had on what he was wearing in my dream. Wow talk about being the most awake I have ever been in my life. I now knew my purpose.

Normally I would have just kept this dream to myself, I have a lot of dreams and dejavu and whenever I spoke of it before my mom would say, “Oh Lynne you are such a dreamer, you have a vivid imagination so I would just forget it”. But not this time… because of my strong beliefs in the power that created our body that have developed since being a part of Chiropractic I was able to tell Dr. D. and his wife about it that day at lunch. They asked me if I was going to tell Josh’s family and I said I wasn’t sure yet, I didn’t want them to think I was wacko. As usual worrying about what people thought of me rather than being strong. I continued to have parts of this dream for the next month and then one morning at work I thought ok today is the day and I phoned their house but the phone was busy so I went for lunch and was going to try again when I came back. When I returned from lunch Josh’s dad walked into the office. I hadn’t seen him for a month and he just dropped by to thank us for being such a big part of Josh’s life and to tell us how much better Josh’s life had been because of Chiropractic. I knew it was now or never, this was another sign, I had to tell him.

I said, “Glenn I have something to tell you and I hope you don’t think I’m nuts”. I told him the dream, which I now know was the vision and he started to cry, and thanked me and said they had been waiting for this. He excused himself because he was becoming very emotional and said he had to go home and tell his wife. I felt this tremendous rush of excitement come over me. I had done the right thing; I was making a difference.

Since that time my best friend lost her mother and the same thing happened, her mom came to me in a vision. My friend was going through a break up at the time of her mothers illness but kept hanging in there with her husband so that her mother would not have to deal with that too. In the vision her mother asked me to tell her she was doing the right thing and to go on with her life. I told my friend about it the day of her mother’s funeral and I really believe it helped her get through that very rough time.

I will never doubt that inner power that guides us and I will give thanks everyday to be part of Chiropractic and for the strength it has provided me with.
